Endocytic and Exocytic Transport Assays

Reference-entry 2005 EN

Abstract Endocytosis is the process of uptake by a cell of material from the environment by invagination of the plasma membrane, and includes phagocytosis and pinocytosis. The opposite process, exocytosis, is the discharge of cellular products upon membrane fusion of transport carriers with the plasma membrane.
